Classes for Youth & Teens

Students of all ages and backgrounds can experience the joy of creating and sharing theatre in programs that inspire creativity, exercise imaginations, and promote artistic risk-taking!
All classes are held at the Round House Theatre Education Center in downtown Silver Spring.

Animated Animal Tales!
Grades K-3
Saturdays 10:30am - 11:30am

Calling all animal lovers! Inspired by some of their favoritre animated animal stories - from Finding Nemo to Paw Patrol, students activate their imaginations using drama, movement, and design to explore theatrical storytelling and creative dramatics. Activities promote confidence, self-esteem, and creative expression while working on skills such as active listening, teamwork, and sharing. This class concludes with a sharing for families.
Enchanted Tales
Grades K-2
Saturdays 1pm - 2pm

Play with dragons, princesses, and magical beasts. Students activate their imaginations using drama, movement, and design to explore the basics of theatrical storytelling and creative dramatics. Superhero Adventures!
Grades 2-3

Calling Superkids! Students activate their imaginations using drama, movement, and design to explore the basics of theatrical storytelling. Superhero Adventures will use superheroes familiar and unfamiliar as jumping off points for our adventures! Activities promote confidence, self-esteem, and creative expression while working on skills such as active listening, teamwork, and sharing. This class concludes with a sharing for families.
Adventures in Acting
Grades 3-5
Saturdays 10am - 11:30am

Expand your actor's toolbox in a fun and exploratory environment. Students will develop acting techniques through improvisational exercises, ensemble activities, and beginning scene work. This class concludes with a sharing for families.
Improv!
Grades 6-9
Saturdays 1 pm - 2:30pm

Act Fast! Improvisation teaches collaborative problem-solving, encourages spontaneity, and builds self-confidence. Through games, interactive play, and long-form exploration, this class encourages creativity and teamwork. The emphasis will be on creating a safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn through doing. This class can be repeated multiple times and concludes with a sharing for families.
