Associate Managing Director

Round House Theatre seeks a full-time Associate Managing Director. The Associate Managing Director is a member of Round House’s Management Team, serves as a Round House thought leader and EDIA subject matter expert on internal and external best practices and strategies, and will lead many intersectional strategic projects across the company, including those related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA), community partnerships, and strategic planning. The AMD also works closely with the Managing Director on the long-term strategy and day-to-day operations of the theatre. Above all, this position supports Round House Theatre’s mission and values and our Commitment to Anti-Racism. Audio/Visual Supervisor 

Round House Theatre seeks a full-time Audio/Visual Supervisor. As a member of the Production Department, the Audio/Visual Supervisor is responsible for the management of all sound and projection equipment at RHT. The individual works directly with department personnel and outside designers to coordinate the implementation of A/V
elements in various RHT productions and special events. Staff Carpenter

Round House Theatre seeks a full-time Carpenter to serve as a member of the Production team for all performance programming, assisting with the build, install, and strike process in order to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of scenic production elements. This position will also help ensure that all scenic elements of the production are kept in the safe, working order through the end of the run. Part-Time

Summer Teaching Artists

The Round House Theatre Education Department seeks teaching artists for summer camp, as well as onsite classes, and satellite programming. Summer Teaching Artists are contracted weekly ($600-$750 a week) for our theatre arts full-day camps for K-12 grade students located in Silver Spring and Bethesda, MD. Teaching artists during the school year are contracted on a freelance, per-class basis, and work a variety of schedules based on semester needs and teacher availability. Ideal candidates possess experience teaching or otherwise interacting/supervising students in grades K-12, the ability to teach independently and with a team, and a passion for arts education. We actively encourage teaching artists from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills, and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. Box Office Associates

Round House Theatre seeks part-time Box Office Associates to work a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 11am to 5pm, with additional evening and weekend hours based on the performance schedule. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing customer service, single ticket and subscription sales, cash management, and other general administrative tasks as assigned by supervisor. Candidates must have good computer and phone skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. House Manager

The House Manager oversees the successful execution of show duties to ensure that performances start on time. This position is part of a team of part-time Front of House staff, and provides fast, knowledgeable, high-quality customer service to the over 30,000 patrons annually. Apprenticeship Program + Internships

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Please note that applications for the 2022-23 season Apprenticeships are closed.
Round House offers apprenticeships designed to offer on-the-job training for committed, highly motivated individuals who are ready to embark upon a professional theatre career. Apprentices are directly exposed to the theatre’s daily operations and given the opportunity to learn alongside an accomplished company of artists, teachers, and administrators. In addition to their specialized training, apprentices gain additional insight into workings of a professional regional theatre through regularly scheduled seminars led by guest speakers and members of the theatre’s senior staff.
 
The program generally requires a 10-month commitment beginning in early August and concluding in late June. Apprentices receive an hourly wage and are expected to work 25 to 40 hours a week, based on the needs/schedule of their department. We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills, and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. The apprenticeship program is a training program, and significant prior experience is not required.

Summer Theatre Education Student Internships
Round House Theatre Education seeks Interns (age of 18 or over) to work in our Summer camps for grades K-12. Ideal candidates are interested in Arts Education, enjoy students, and are team players. Internships are for 8-hour shifts between 8:45am-6pm, Monday through Friday, June 21 through August 26. Interns are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 weeks.  Interns provide support for professional teaching artists, learning to work with students, support and lead activities, and thrive in a theatre education classroom.  A stipend of $250 a week is provided.  Housing is not provided. Interviews and hiring begin immediately. Round House Theatre actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to join us and influence our working practice.   The internship program is a training program, and significant prior experience is not required.
As of June 2022, all Summer Internship positions are filled.

Teen Educator Program: Summer Internships For High School Students
The Teen Educator Program is a program that encourages students in Grade 9-12 to join the Round House Theatre Teaching Artists as classroom assistants. Teens build classroom management skills and learn to facilitate a theatre arts education experience.  Summer Teen Educators work for full weeks in our K-6 grade camps.
Round House can provide documentation of hours worked so students can meet Student Service Learning requirements or internship hours.
As of June 2022, all Teen Educator positions are filled.
