Originally scheduled to run April 1 – 19, Cost of Living  by Martyna Majok has been postponed. All Round House education programs will be suspended March 16 through April 3, 2020 until further notice.

Statement from Leadership:

Like so many of you, we at Round House have watched as COVID-19 has grown to pandemic proportions over the past few weeks. It is understandable under these circumstances to feel helpless, but we want to remind you that no one is alone in this. Each of us can take steps to flatten the curve, protect the most vulnerable in our society, and do our part to take care of ourselves and our fellow citizens.

Just today, Governor Hogan announced that the state of Maryland would prohibit gatherings of more than 250 people. Our state officials clearly understand the urgency of this situation, as do we. For Round House, our top priority is always the people in our community—our patrons, students, and employees.

In this case, ensuring the safety of our community has meant coming to a difficult decision: postponing our much-anticipated run of Pulitzer Prize-winning play Cost of Living. While we could attempt to continue the production by reducing our audience capacity to below 250, we believe that prioritizing you means going above and beyond governmental recommendations. We will be bringing Martyna Majok’s humorous and heartbreaking drama back to Round House, with the goal of keeping the same incredible artistic team intact. If you have questions, please call our box office at 240.644.1100. We will be taking calls Mon-Fri 10am-5pm. We will follow up with all Cost of Living ticket holders once the new production dates are set.

In addition to this postponement, we are also suspending all of our education programs, in line with MCPS closures. All Round House facilities will be closed through April 3, and we are encouraging our entire staff to work from home during that time. Like all of you, we will be monitoring the situation closely, and will make additional adjustments to our programming as needed.
