(BETHESDA, MD) For the first production of 2012 on its Bethesda stage, Round House Theatre presents the area premiere of the award-winning Next Fall. Directed by Mark Ramont, who staged the company’s acclaimed 2011 production of Amadeus, Next Fall is at Round House Theatre Bethesda from February 1 thru 26, 2012.
Tickets range in price from $10 to $61 and may be purchased by calling 240.644.1100, online at roundhousetheatre.org, or at Round House’s box office in Bethesda. Round House Theatre Bethesda is located at 4545 East-West Highway, one block from Wisconsin Avenue and the Bethesda station on Metro’s Red Line.
Next Fall is a contemporary love story that will make audiences smile, laugh, and perhaps even cry. It won the hearts and minds of Broadway, capturing a 2010 Outer Critics Circle Award as Best New American Play and a Tony Award nomination for Best Play.
New York couple Adam and Luke are an example of opposites attract ‑ Adam is older, neurotic, and an atheist; Luke is impulsive, a struggling actor, and devoutly religious. After Luke is involved in a serious accident, family and friends descend upon them and these longtime differences collide, forcing opposing views on faith and family into a stand-off. Hilarious and heartbreaking, it exposes the fundamental truth that we love people both because of – and in spite of – who they are.
The New York Times hailed its “ample heart and snappy humor” and said it “speaks in a quiet voice of momentous things.” Associated Press called Next Fall “compassionate, laugh-filled and enormously entertaining.” Time Out New York stated, “be prepared to laugh some, perhaps to cry some, and then to rise in appreciation.”
Next Fall is made possible by generous support from Susan Gilbert and Ron Schechter.
Metro Weekly is the Production Media Partner for Next Fall.
Next Fall is recommended for age 15 and above as it contains strong language and mature themes.
