In the summer months Round House Theatre offers a variety of opportunities for students of all ages to experience the sheer joy of creating and sharing theatre. Our summer programs are designed to inspire creativity, exercise imaginations, promote artistic risk-taking, and explore the unique ways to tell stories through theatre. Round House’s professional teaching artists nurture students’ individual talents and artistic strengths in an environment of creative collaboration and ensemble building.

EZ Care: Before and After Care Solutions
EZ Care is available for students grades K – 7. Before Care runs 7:30 – 9:00am and is provided at the program site. After Care runs 4:00 – 6:00pm and is provided at Round House Theatre’s Education Center. (Students at RHT Silver Spring or Chelsea School are walked to the Education Center.) EZ Care can be purchased at anytime by calling 301.585.1225, or at the program site.

Every day, students will create a new world—from the Rainforest to Candyland—through visual arts and then inhabit it through creative dramatics. Students learn the building blocks of theatrical design and performance while investigating, making, and playing in the destinations.

For Students Grades 5 - 7

Students will explore to role of magic and supernatural elements in various popular tales through theatre games and activities, and learn basic magic tricks, in order to create and perform original plays.

Improv Break

Acting for the Stage

This high-energy class teaches the fundamentals of improvisational acting while students create characters and tell their stories in the blink of an eye.

Theatre Adventures: Funky Fisticuffs

In this class, students will study different forms of hand-to-hand combat for the stage, and play with performing them in different styles and incorporating them into devised and improvised scenes.

Theatre Adventures: Time Travels through Theatre

Students will experiment with different performance styles and acting approaches from around the globe and throughout time, working toward creating and performing original plays.

Stretch your body’s limits creating hilarious physically-based characters while incorporating the art of spontaneous performance.

Train in acting, singing, and dance, and then apply your skills, techniques and talents in rehearsal for a musical theatre showcase.
